Dulcita Lieggi was crowned Miss Dominican Republic 2012 on April 26 after originally placing 1-runner up to Carola Durán, Lieggi was later given the title after the original winner was dethroned. Lieggi is 22 year old and stands 1.82 m. She will represent the Dominican Republic in Miss Universe 2012 pageant.
Lieggi from Distrito Nacional, won the first runner up title at Miss Dominican Republic 2012 in Miss Santo Domingo on April 17, 2012, and winning the right to represent the Dominican Republic in Miss Continente Americano 2012.
On 4/25/2012, it was announced that Dulcita Lieggi Francisco replaced Carlina Duran as the Dominican rep for Miss Universe as Carlina did not meet the “marital status” of a Miss Universe.
