Congrats to Kaitlin White who has just been crowned Miss Tennessee Teen USA 2011! (click here to view her profile)
It was fantastic being able to watch prelims yesterday & finals today via webcast, I hope more states get into the act! Kaitlin was (in my opinion) the clear standout in prelims, rocked finals, and walked away with the crown! I was so thrilled to finally notch up my second Teen "road to" point ;)
A couple of interesting bits of trivia... Kaitlin is only the second blonde to win Miss Tennessee Teen USA in at least the last 12 years - the other was Ashley Durham (2006) who is my pick to win Miss Tennessee USA tonight! Also, Kaitlin continues the trend of being new to competing at Miss Tennessee Teen USA. Other than Macy Erwin (also competing at Miss TN USA tonight) the most recent TN Teen titleholder to place prior to winning was Rachel Smith in 2002!
Kaitlin competed as Miss Southern Tennessee Teen, the winner of a local pageant directed by Lynette Cole, Miss Tennessee Teen USA 1995, Miss Tennessee USA 2000 & Miss USA 2000. Southern TN teens have narrowly missed out on the title in recent years, placing 2RU in 2008 and 2009 & 1st runner-up in 2010.
Thanks to awesome local paper The Leaf Chronicle for being so speedy with putting photos up. The Leaf Chronicle has provided awesome coverage for as long as I have been covering pageants, I truly believe they give the best pageant coverage of ANY newspaper (although that ain't hard to beat since most state pageants are ignored these days :( )
